Join us Tuesday, February 20th, at 7 pm for a panel discussion with Jonathan Stapley, author of The Power of Godliness: Mormon Liturgy and Cosmology. This detailed historical analysis of Mormon priesthood, authority, and gender explores the rituals of ordination, temple "sealings," baby blessings, healing, and cunning-folk traditions. The Power of Godliness reveals a complete religious world, incorporating women, men, and children all participating in the construction of the Mormon universe.
Jonathan will be joined by Maxine Hanks and Janiece Johnson for a discussion of the historical, theological, and pastoral issues addressed in this groundbreaking new book.
The event is free and open to the public and light refreshments will be served.
