Join us this Friday, Feb 10th, at 6 pm at the opening reception for Supercollider, a new exhibition of works by Ike Bushman. Since finishing his MFA at the U of Alberta, Ike has had work featured in galleries and museums not just throughout the US and Canada but in Italy, Germany, Poland, and Austria. He works in a variety of media, from painting to sculpture to photography, but is primarily a print-maker.
He describes his process: "I have a circular way of working. My drawing informs my sculpture which in turn informs my photography. The photography informs the painting and printmaking which then goes back to the drawing. The use of these many techniques and processes alludes to my quest for truth. I am able to look at an idea through many different angles and filters. This allows me to get to that single element or facet of what I think may be the truth."
'Supercollider' will also feature works from Ike's latest project, SYRIA, a series of 28 small paintings, dedicated to displaced Syrian refugees throughout the world. These paintings are sold through a social media campaign (follow Ike on Instagram @ikeridesabike), and all proceeds fund humanitarian aid to the refugees through DirectRelief.
Come Friday to meet the artist and see these compelling and unusual works. The exhibition will run through March 4th.
The reception is free and open to the public.
